About Stony Open Gardens
Stony Open Gardens takes place in Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes over a weekend every other summer. We aim to have in the region of 30 gardens around Stony open to the public, which in previous years has included two allotments, a Community Garden and a school garden. More recently visitors have also enjoyed art exhibitions and music and art in the gardens. The houses and gardens reflect a rich variety of historic and modern architectural styles and approaches.
In 2019 Stony Open Gardens raised £15,440 for Willen Hospice. Many thanks to all who helped and all who came over the weekend.
The first Stony Open Gardens was held in 2003, organised in memory of a local gardening enthusiast. As she had died in the Willen Hospice the event raised funds for the hospice and that tradition has continued ever since. The 2013 opening, the tenth anniversary and sixth open gardens, was a thoroughly festive event and the total raised for the hospice over the years reached £50,000. The 2015 Stony Open Gardens continued in the same vein raising almost £12,000 and attracting visitors from around Milton Keynes and as far away as Bristol and Cambridge.
Thanks to the hard work of very many people over the years Stony Open Gardens is now well established in the Stony calendar.
We are grateful to our sponsors, listed below, whose contribution means that every penny spent on programmes, teas, plants and other items goes to Willen Hospice to help provide high quality personalised care for terminally ill patients and support for their relatives.
Our 2019 sponsors.
Thanks also to the organisations who provided raffle prizes.
